Action has become synonymous with anime, as some of its biggest names were based on shounen manga, which means battle manga. Shows like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto Shippuden, and One Piece have had some of the most exhilarating and high-octane fights ever. This undoubtedly led to a market where people wanted to experience it themselves. Thus many games were created to capture that feeling of fighting through hardship and winning. Tales is a franchise that is beloved by many, and for a good reason, as it is one of the oldest ARPG series in the market, which has not abandoned its root. It still has some of the best systems and storytelling, evident by its latest installment, Tales of Arise. Arise’s story is about going against the established hierarchy and taking what is yours by any means. We follow an enslaved person who has lost his memories and becomes entangled in a multi-level scheme to destroy a race and its culture. We will meet many people along the way, witness new perspectives, and see how forced operation destroys people from the inside.

Combat is based on the refined version of the Arts System; it has been used in many previous titles and has been finetuned to offer the best experience yet. It does this by having easy-to-understand controls and building flow in battles. Anyone can string massive combos and deal vast amounts of damage if they utilize regular attacks and unique arts.

It will truly test your skills as you proceed in the story, and if you become good enough, you also might be able to trigger the fine arts, which act as finishers for the characters. It is a game that will undoubtedly provide you with hours of fun.

New IPs have become quite scarce in recent years. Many continue to use old ideas to create remakes or remasters most of the time. That’s why it was a breath of fresh air when Bandai Namco announced that it had an original IP in work. The IP in question would turn out to be Scarlet Nexus, arguably one of the most polished and refined titles Bandai had released in years. The narrative follows Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane as they become new members of the OSF and start their journey to protect humanity. Or they think that as soon they are introduced to a slew of problems inside the OSF and left feeling whom to trust and who not to. They soon find their answers but is the truth always for the best, or is it better to live in ignorant bliss?

Combat is unique as with being single-player focused. It has mechanics which reward skilled play while also being beginner friendly. The proper focus of the battle is the Psy abilities which can be used to do all sorts of wicked moves and even fuse your powers with your teammates and wreak havoc among your foes. You will be able to utilize more powerful abilities as you progress through the main story and continue to level up your connection with the other characters. If you were ever a fan of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, then you will no doubt love it, as it feels like a natural evolution of those games.

One Piece is a name that has cemented its place in the minds of millions; whether you are a fan or someone who knows about it from the countless memes, none can argue that it is one of the biggest names in the anime landscape. That’s why it is no surprise that numerous games have been made of it, some good, some bad. But none captured the show’s true essence until the Pirate Warriors line of games came out. With the new release Pirate Warriors 4, it was the best. The story follows the straw hats as they travel from the east blue to the grand line and beyond. Arcs are divided by islands, and you can recap the game's story with some extra context and the ability to control the iconic group members as you fight your way through countless marines, pirates, and mercenaries.

As you get to control many different people from the show, it might seem that some are bound to feel similar. But the exact opposite happens. Each of them has different playstyles based on their anime counterparts, like Sanji having to rely on his legs to deal damage and Law needing the enemies to be in this room to be effective. The new feature of aerial combat also adds a new layer of complexity, as you can be easily stun-locked by the bosses such as Big Mom, who use both types of attacks. Other than Dragon Ball Z Fighters, Pirate Warriors 4 is the only game that makes you genuinely feel like the protagonists from the show.
