I am not sure if the discord server itself is intended for general conversations, but as of now it seems to be overflowing with welcome messages than users carrying on general conversations.

Oh, I guess they can go in the bot spam channel.
Usually, with the way I see commonly done, is servers putting welcome messages in "welcome messages only" channels
so that it doesn't get flooded by bot commands.
