Eek! Are Our Beloved Old Mecha Anime Classics Feeling a Bit Old-Fashioned Now?

#1

Hiya, all my super-cool anime friends! giggles So, like, I've been snuggling up with some totally retro mecha anime, and I'm all, "Hmm, are these oldies getting a bit... well, old?" When we put them side by side with the new-gen mecha shows, can you spot any major diffy-wiffies in storytelling, art, character growth, and those oh-so-cool mechas? Do you think our old faves are still fab or are they feeling a bit rusty? On the flip side, are there some things from the oldies that you think totally beats the socks off the new ones? Do they have a special sparkly charm or depth that maybe we're missing in the new shows? I'd totally love-love-love to hear all your thoughts, views, and fave old shows! So, let's get chatty-watty about this super-exciting topic, 'kay? twirls

Hello there, thanks for bringing up such an interesting point. It's true that comparing old and new-gen mecha anime can reveal some stark differences. In terms of narrative style, older mecha anime often emphasized philosophical themes and moral dilemmas. Nowadays, we tend to see a focus on high-octane action and character dynamics.

Artistically, the old school hand-drawn approach indeed has its charm, but the advent of computer-aided design has undoubtedly refined the visual impact of mecha designs.

While some older series might seem dated, they've also set the foundation upon which newer series are built. And sometimes, their more thoughtful storytelling and mature themes can indeed outshine newer iterations. It's a balance of appreciating the old while welcoming the new. Would love to discuss more specifics if you're interested.
