Kurtzpel Review: Big barrier to newcomers
#1
Better response on post Kurtzpel Review: Big barrier to newcomersKurtzpel is very good game, except few points I felt that it has huge and huge barrier to newcomer to play the game's PvP, which I personally felt as a newcomer. Sorry if this post makes you somewhat uncomfortable... but this is really just my personal thoughts. Hope you can take with a grain of salt.

I play 2 games on pc, one is Super Mecha Champions (SMC) and the another one is Kurtzpel. I started Kurtzpel PvE first, then SMC, then Kurtzpel PvP after a month. I am basically a beginner to both 2 games' pvp. By looking at Twitch viewer count on both games, it looks like both game have very similar population. However, I personally felt higher barrier to Kurtzpel PvP over SMC PvP as a beginner to enter into due to following reasons, again, personal thought.

(Lots of combos... per weapon)

One problem I felt in Kurtzpel is that game is too much combo-dependent. More specifically, unlike SMC being typical FPS game in which everyone played such FPS genre in their lives at least once, Kurtzpel in-game system is very unique. It's like side-scrolling fighting game that fits well with joystick got converted to 3D game that fits well with KBM that nobody would have experienced before. Thus, this game and its combo system takes a lot of practice time for beginners to get used to. Most of them, actually most of people, would probably not be able to overcome stresses which they have to endure from losing many many games until they get used to the game's combo system, like seeing my character getting died from nearly 100% hp to 0% by some infinite combo, either by single or multiple enemies, for more than 5~10 seconds without being able to do anything in that whole seconds. I expect beginners usually press all the buttons repeatedly in the case like this, but they will see nothing works, totally exhausted and quit the game lol. Anyways in this case only some genius gamers who are basically fast learners will benefit too much from my guess.

Secondly, game has small number of pvp players in pvp arena. Here I am not saying small number of population is problem. Low pvp population happens in every anime games, but the real problem I personally felt is that, due to small population in pvp arena, the system puts low skilled player, not even mid skilled but low skilled, frequently to go against high skilled players by broadening matchmaking or something. Comparing to SMC, I personally think Kurtzpel puts players going against too skilled players way more frequently. SmC usually utilize bots in this case rather than making low skilled players get matched against high skilled players. What is better in this case for beginners? Well, strange to say but it results them in getting less stress, which prevents them from quitting the game fast. I am not sure if there is a bot in Kurtzpel pvp. It could be better to use just bots rather than putting low skilled players with high skilled players unless the game is super high populated and lots of divisions in the pvp system that can matchmake both teams very fairly and equally using high population. Anyways this way the game doesn't even need to ask broadening matchmaking. However, bot might not work for Kurtzpel. That only worked because the genre of SMC is battle royale, where lots of players are distributed around the map. We really do not care what we killed is actually a bot or not since too many players in battle royale. Actually it should not be "working" that solves, but "smoothening".

I personally think these 2 things are not intended, but what makes beginners harder to play Kurtzpel.
Do you have any opinion? If so, let's discuss! Please feel free to leave your thoughts Interesting

New thread - Soloing on Squad? How to leave without penalty in forum Super Mecha Champions Guide.
(6 hours ago)AEG Jotaku Wrote:  Of course you can solo in solo mode, but I understand that it's kinds of boring since teamfight is never allowed there.
Therefore, if you frequently solo on squad, you will need to utilize it a lot in order to avoid unfair cases.

You can only leave the game without penalty if you leave while in waiting room.
By repeating this you will somehow get teammates.

However, make sure that there is a chance that the game will forcibly put you into solo "after the game started".
In that case you will anyways get penalty when you leave. But I see this case happens very rarely, especially when there is no other players.

It's a tanky and effective build against swordsmans, but very vulnerable to other gunners.

It's recommended to use when your enemy is a sword main or is using a sword.

Ps the aim of it is too heal asap once the avoid instant death kicks in

Kurtzpel offers PvP in the form of arena, such as 2vs2 and 4vs4. It supports various game modes and maps such as Domination, Dota (LoL) mode, Deathmatch, etc. PvE elements like leveling are completely separate in PvP, so no matter how high your level or how good your equipment is, it doesn't affect PvP performance in Kurtzpel. All players will have the same stat, except an ignorable case that items such as costumes and accessories do slightly affect PvP performance, but the effect is very small, and it is very easy to ob...
