Yes. The way how they perform melee attack will differ. Some of them has slower animation, or faster animation, or wider ranges, or shorter range, and so on.
They also varies depending on ground or air melee in terms of speed and range.
For this reason, we recommend Katsuragi (very fast in both ground & air melee), abyssal Miyabi (bad in air melee, but has wider range in ground melee), ultimate Asuka (won't push back that is highly useful for melee lock), and some others (mostly somewhat similar to Katsuragi) if you do melees lot.
