The gaming industry is truly a mixed box of surprises, as it is quite rare we get to see a studio rise from mediocrity for one of the most honest and bombastic game adaptations ever. Yet that is exactly what Arc System Works did with the release of Dragon Ball Fighter Z a game that didn’t destroy the industry standards, no it obliterated them. While yes Arc Systems Works was known before they made this gem with their Guilty Gear series. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Guilty Gear has always been a niche game for a small group of players. But Dragon Ball Fighter Z on the other hand is a game that anyone can pick up and play, as it is easy to learn yet torturingly difficult to master. Which has led it to have one of the most active esports scenes in the fighting game genre, even competing with the likes of Tekken and Street Fighter.
One of the biggest esports tournaments for the game was kicked off this month, at arguably the holy grail of fighting game tournaments EVO Championship 2023. Where we saw HIKARI take home the win and 5,000 Dollars in cash prize as the winner of the Dragon Ball Fighter Z at EVO. But that is only the beginning as Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour plans to pit the best of the best players against each other for the title of World Champion.

To find the best of the best the organizers have decided to take the first-place winner of each of the biggest DBFZ tournaments from around the world and have them battle against each other Saiyan style. The first of the tournaments on the list was the above-mentioned EVO 2023, and the second only took place a few days ago was VSFighting XI which saw Yasha take home the first place. It is also prudent to mention Yasha took the runner-up place in EVO meaning he will have a chance to take his revenge on HIKARI with the world stage as the backdrop. As for the remaining tournaments the only ones which we know of are REV Major 2023, Thunderstruck 2023, Thaiger Uppercut 2023, Clash of the Olympians 2K23, and CEOtaku 2023. As of now, any other tournament has not been confirmed to be part of the lineup by the organizers. As for watching the tournament fans can watch the official event late in 2024 at DBFZ World Tours' official YouTube account and on their official Twitch account as a live stream with live commentary, the same is also true for the other tournaments mentioned in this article.

This time the world tour has also introduced a world leaderboard where players can rank up and down via the championship points that can either be earned in the official tournaments backed by the event organizers or by taking part in ranked matches every week. So, Saiyan, do you have what it takes to fight against the best Earth has to offer? If so then get ready as the stage is set and the best are gathering for a fight that will go down in the annals of fighting game history.
