When it comes to video games, one of the most popular beliefs is that the better the graphics, the better the game. While this may be true, it is worth noting that this is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Though graphics do enhance one’s visual experience, a video game is often more about its art style and narrative plot. If this wasn’t true, then decade-old titles like Doom and Counter-Strike wouldn’t have become famous despite their cartoonish visual elements.

In the modern day, best graphics FPS games can often be described as those that strike the perfect balance between the visuals, art style, and the overall narrative plot as well as gameplay mechanics. As such, in this article, we introduce you to 3 such games.

Trianga’s Project: Battle Splash 2.0

Often hailed as the best, if not one of the best, graphics FPS games in 2024. Developed by Dranya Studio. Trianga’s Project: Battle Splash 2.0 is a recently new arrival in the market, released in September 2023, which is currently available to play on Steam.

As you may notice, Trianga’s Project: Battle Splash 2.0 boasts an anime art style. This is because it is very hard to find that perfect balance of graphics, art style, narrative, and gameplay mechanics in anime games. Anime art style is often more appealing to the eyes and also requires less computational resources than realistic graphics.

Trianga’s Project: Battle Splash is a fast-paced first-person shooter where you team up with friends and take the battle to the enemy or engage in friendly competition with each other. Where other FPS games showcase gory elements like blood and violence, Battle Splash 2.0 is completely opposite to this. Instead of blood, the game makes use of water physics to simulate the shooter mechanics. So, instead of bullets, you fire water! Sounds fun, right?

With its wide cast of hero characters, each having unique abilities, playing Trianga’s Project: Battle Splash 2.0 becomes all the more thrilling.

Second Wave

The reason Second Wave makes it to the second position on our list of the best graphics FPS games is not because it lacks behind Battle Splash 2.0 but rather due to the fact that, as of writing, this MOBA-style FPS game by Challenger Games Corp is under active development and scheduled to be released soon on a wide number of platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Windows, and even Android and iOS!

Given its sheer ambitions, it's safe to say Second Wave is aiming high whenever it releases. Due to a vast number of supported platforms, it will have negligible trouble in amassing a large player base.

This MOBA-style FPS game is yet another game that showcases anime art style. From whatever pre-release material is available online, it seems Second Wave has done a remarkable job in fine-balancing out its graphics, art style, and overall gameplay mechanics. Like Battle Splash 2.0, Second Wave also boasts different characters in its roster where each is in possession of unique abilities that players can leverage to bring in strategic gameplay.

Second Wave is set in the fictional region of Armantia and will be completely free to play once it launches. Of course, the devs will implement a microtransaction model into the game but it will be limited to in-game cosmetics only. The Second Wave is not pay-to-win but rather play-to-win.

Seed of The Dead: Sweet Home

An FPS game that is unlike any other on our list of the best graphics FPS games. Seed of The Dead: Sweet Home is a top-notch action shooter anime game. Released in 2021, it is currently available to play on Windows via Steam.

Despite its dark and gory setting, this FPS game boasts a striking art style that perfectly sets up the atmosphere in the game. Speaking of which, in Seed of The Dead: Sweet Home, players find themselves in a post-apocalyptic hellish world overridden by horrifying humanoid creatures, known as zombies.

While the world around you has gone crazy and ferocious, hope is not all lost yet. Accompanied by 4 beautiful girls and a handful of survivors, you have another opportunity at life. Although you’ll be fighting for your life in this over-the-top action shooter game, you will also be focusing on your relationships with others.

Seed of The Dead: Sweet Home is what its name indicates. You fight through the hordes of enemies while also staying content in your personal life. With over 30 hours of gameplay, 8 high-powered stages, and 4 difficulty levels, Seed of The Dead promises a one-of-a-kind anime shooter experience set in a vastly richly-crafted world.
