Now last on the list, we have a game from a series that needs no introduction to gamers, as it is one of the oldest series in the genre of bullet hell shooters. Yes, it is none other than Touhou Empires the latest entry into the mythos of Project Touhou, but wait I hear you saying isn’t this article about RTS games? Well my dear reader it is a delight of mine to tell you that the developer Neetpia has taken the bold step of creating an RTS game based on the lore and world of TouHou. And while the series might not have the brightest track record of spin-off games, from the material that has been shown it seems that the developers are adamant about not following in the footsteps of those who failed before. To ensure this it seems that Neetpia has taken a page from Age of Empire and has designed their whole game more around macro management rather than the tedious planning of StarCraft. From the shown material it seems that the characters from multiple Touhou games will be made into units and there will also be a heavy focus on base building and resource gathering. As for the narrative, the developers are quite tight-lipped about it and all we know for now is that the main story will somehow link up to a mainline series game. So if you wish to see the rebirth of the long dormant genre of RTS and the new emergence of a Touhou genre then my dear reader this is the game for you. Addtionally, you will definitely use a keyboard and mouse through Steam Deck Docking Station in order to play this game. Also, as of Nov 27, 2023, the game isn't released yet so it is not fully confirmed that it may work on Steam Deck. We will update this info as soon as the game releases in 2024.
