Your Esports Dream of Dragon Ball FighterZ in 2022: How Is It Going
Dragon Ball is an anime that almost every kid and adult has watched. There have been legendary games that Bandai Namco has come forward with over the course of many years such as the Budokai series. They may not have been esports titles but they set the scale for upcoming fighting anime games very high. The latest series of the anime; Xenoverse, has been a bit of a disappointment to the hardcore fans of the anime and games. The 1st edition was barely up to par but the 2nd edition came with little to no balancing in terms of character play and various bugs which kept the game unplayable for some for a while.
Xenoverse felt like a game which was meant for just the casual gamers who had love for the anime as the battle style felt closely related to the anime battles hence making it a good game but just not a great fighter. The fights take place in a relatively massive battleground not making it the most ideal game to be considered a title built for competitions as esports fighting titles have really contained surroundings usually.
Amidst the disappointment of Xenoverse series, Bandai struck hard at a time where they needed a big comeback, with the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ. A game with true intentions to be a competitive game and it has proved to live up to them. Great character balancing, providing a relatively similar approach to the team based matches like in King of Fighters but with different fighting styles hence having its own unique elements to love. It is somewhat easy for new players to grasp as well and many play it just for the love of the anime therefore, resulting in the game having a good player base from different perspectives.
Bandai did not need to work on their marketing too much as the anime is quite popular in masses and so are their games. Although the game did need a push for its esports side. Bandai Namco Esports having had experience with similar markets before, managed to overcome the initial hurdles with ease. But it did not take long for 3rd party tournament organizers to catch up and start helping out Bandai with the process.
Now Dragon Ball FighterZ has already made its way on the big stages like EVO 2022, that too with a pretty good turnover. Moreover, Bandai Namco recently came ahead with the announcement of the World Tour of Dragon Ball FighterZ which is going to help increase the popularity of the game on a larger scale than ever. With players from almost every country getting a chance to compete on an international level on a fair platform, people are going to jump at the opportunity to pick up a new game and give it their best shot at qualifying.
