I’ve been addicted to anime MMORPGs ever since I first played Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast console in 2000. These games have something so pulling about them that once you have a feel of it, you can’t seem to let go. However, when you’ve seen everything that an MMORPG has to offer, you look for alternatives. If you’ve grown tired of playing the same game over and over again, here are some fresh upcoming anime MMORPGs to look forward to in 2025 and 2026. I’ve especially curated this list to present you with the best of the best upcoming anime MMORPGs.

I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited about this upcoming anime MMORPG. Crystal of Atlan is a Magicpunk MMORPG. It is developed by Nuverse and is all set to launch at the end of May 2025. Official platforms supported are Windows, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS.

Crystal of Atlan has 6 million pre-registrations already, and it's easy to see why. The game boasts a compelling plot. It is the primary reason why I’m so excited about this title. Crystal of Atlan takes place in the fictional-fantasy world of Atlan, where the source of all magic is coming from a mysterious crystal. As part of the Adventurer’s Guild, you’re tasked with uncovering the secrets behind this mystery and potentially uniting the divided world of Atlan.

This has you cover going on a long, enduring quest where you explore Atlan’s futuristic magicpunk cities, ancient ruins, as well as powerful factions and mythic creatures. As of now, there are 16 distinct character classes and 20 skills to master. You can also engage in PvP battles or do Co-op dungeon campaigns together with your friends.

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

If you were previously waiting for Blue Protocol and got heartbroken when the news of it suddenly getting shut down came about, I’ve got good news for you. Developed by Bokura Network, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is a completely revamped continuation of the original MMORPG, Blue Protocol, that is all set to release soon on Windows, Android, and iOS platforms.

In Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, you wake up in an Ancient Ruin place, and from your blurry vision, you make out a little girl being chased by a mysterious entity. The game world is on the brink of destruction, and you have to do all in your power to travel through space and time in order to uncover the mysteries of the lost divine tribe and avert the impending doom.

You start the game by creating your character. Blue Protocol: Star Resonance gives you plenty of options to customise your character. Battle mechanics are also remarkable. From wielding swords and bows to shooting spells and learning side jobs like fishing, the MMORPG has it all.

While there is no confirmed release date yet, I’m sure I’ll be playing this MMOPG on day one! What about you?

Ragnarök Online 3

If you are a fan of classic MMORPGs, then this upcoming anime MMORPG is bound to steal your attention! Ragnarök Online 3, a direct sequel to the decades-old Ragnarök Online, is scheduled to be released by developers, Gravity, in the second half of 2025 on PC and mobile devices running Android and iOS.

As of writing, there isn’t much information available on Ragnarök Online 3 except for two main YouTube videos. So I’ll be summarising it real quick.

Our first impression of Ragnarök Online 3 is that it retains the classic MMORPG experience. Although there is shown a new boss fight in the game, I’m unsure whether this is part of the original lore. Honestly, I would like to see some plot and lore twists in Ragnarök Online 3 rather than just upgraded visuals.
I hope there will be improved large-scale PvP and GvG modes. The epic 120-vs-120 battles are my favourite, and I can’t wait to see how well it is implemented in Ragnarök Online 3! Are you, too, excited about Ragnarök Online 3?
