Revamped OSU! Rocks 2024: Iconic New Tracks Added to Celebrate the New Year
Figure 1. OSU!
OSU! is a name that has long since become synonymous with the most niche societies of gamers on the internet. After the popularization of the medium of anime, OSU! seems to have finally cracked its way into the public eye. An event that many did not foresee despite its fame in those niche societies. Because OSU! at its core is a hardcore game that does not have a very accessible entry into it. Despite that, it seems the game has gained massive popularity in recent years with its player count soaring into the tens of thousands. A number that to many mainstream games might seem trivial but going off the nature of the game and its target market is asounding.

This new fame has also shed some much-needed light on another aspect of the game that has been starved for attention and recognition for quite some time. This is none other than the esports scene around the game. Yes, you heard me right, this insanely hard rhythm game that got popular by using anime songs does have one of the best community-run esports events. Not only that it holds two major events in the year that give players the chance to win respect fame and even some cash prizes. But despite all of these prizes, the only thing OSU! players play for, is the leaderboard. Whoever has the highest score on the leaderboard is considered to be the best player in the whole world. As for the two tournaments that are held annually, they go by OSU! Mania and OSU World Cup. Each of these tournaments is handled in such a way that no track aside from one or two is ever repeated. As it offers players a set of evolving challenges that can truly test them. All of this is also why OSU! in recent years has partnered with some freelance and industry studios to get purpose-made tracks for the players. This not only helps expand the name of the game to a larger audience but it also stops the problem of copyright infringement that plagued the game in the early years of its life cycle. One such addition of tracks just happened recently, it also marked the official start of the game for the year 2024.

This new addition of tacks is known officially as Featured Artist Track Updates: Winter 2024 and in it the OSU! team has hand-picked some of the best artists on the market right now. These artists are, Aiobahn, Celldweller, ColBreakz, cygnus, HyuN, SAMString, seatrus, and Umeboshi Chazuke. All of them offer various tracks from various genres, and on top of that, it appears that you can also access different variants of tracks that offer more of a challenge. The team over OSU! has also created a whole host of new backgrounds for the tracks so that when you are jamming out to your favorite tunes you are doing it in style. So if you have ever wished to be part of this ever-evolving community, then now is the perfect time to join, and who knows you might be the next World Champion.
