Regional tournaments, a once deeply hated type of tournament took their start in the underground esports scene and Japan and with the advent of the consoles made their way to the States in the late 80s. Now while hate is a strong word it is apt to describe the feelings of American gamers toward the tournaments. Due to their contribution to the insane skill difference between the country's players. But nowadays these regional tournaments are held in official brackets for major international tournaments. Despite their new coat of paint, we can't forget the role of these tournaments in giving a few nations the edge when it comes to esports as a whole. This is why with the rise of esports as a solid channel for earning and marketing many countries have started to invest in the act of training players for the major competitions. A prime example of this is the current 7-week ongoing Grand Prix Brazil EVO organized by COMBO INFINITO. And while the tournament may have the name of EVO it is in no way connected to the original event.

Grand Prix Brazil EVO is one of the first of its kind to be officially launched with such amount of investor support and to see it be exclusive only to the Brazilian people also enforces the current trend of countries trying their best to train esports players. As for this tournament, it is divided into 7 weeks in which on each Thursday and Friday players will fight for the spot in the top 8. Who will later on after the qualifiers play each other to find out who is the best Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising player. The official duration of the tournament is Jan 12th — Mar 15th, 2024, and for registrations players can contact either the organizers at the official COMBO INFINITO discord or register through the start.gg page. All Top 8 and onwards will be broadcast on their official channels on Youtube and Twitch. As for the prize money the Grand Prix organizers have gone above in beyond because alongside the cash prize of 610 dollars which is just the base amount not counting the pot prize, the winner will earn an all-expense-paid trip to EVO 2024. But this comes will a slight caveat as a player will need to follow a strict guideline to avail this prize.

As for the format, it will be a Double Elimination Online Tournament, where all matches will be FT2 (Best of 3). Except for matches referring to Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals, these will be FT3 (Best of 5). Players are also advised to be familiar with the start.gg website as it will play the role of the intermediary, due to the nature of the tournament being online. Other than that not all the matches will be streamed but as mentioned before only the best of the best matches will be shown to the masses, this was done to ensure the smooth execution of the qualifiers.
